Letter from Newt Gingrich

September 30, 2009
Vol. 4, No. 39

Dishonesty, Intimidation, Hypocrisy and Medicare Advantage

by Newt Gingrich

The editorial writers at the New York Times thought they were getting the White House's back when they defended cuts to Medicare Advantage last week. In fact, they were validating the blatant dishonesty of administration and congressional officials pushing for the cuts. In their editorial last Sunday, the Times writers revealed in stunning fashion the lies that have been used to convince increasingly skeptical seniors that their Medicare Advantage benefits won't be sacrificed to pay for government-run health care.

Should Obama Pay Back Big Labor?

Union Bosses spent $1 billion electing Obama and the Democrats and now they're demanding payback. They intend to:

End the secret ballot vote for workers on unionization;

Force millions of new workers to pay dues or be fired;

Pack federal agencies and courts with union stooges.

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) NEEDS YOUR HELP by telling President Obama that he has NO MANDATE to expand forced unionism:

Dishonesty: Cuts Won't Affect Medicare Advantage Participants

In one breath, the Times claimed the effect of Medicare Advantage cuts will be "modest":

"Although Republican rhetoric has triggered fears that Medicare Advantage enrollees might lose their coverage entirely if private plans drop out of the system, the real effect of the bill would likely be modest on average."

Then, literally on the next line, the Times contradicts itself, and stumbles inadvertently on to the truth:

"The value of an enrollee's added benefits would shrink by more than half from current levels but would not disappear; they would still be worth about $500 a year in 2019 (emphasis added)."

Intimidation: Free Speech Rights of Insurance Companies Denied

Medicare Advantage was created to do what the Center for Health Transformation (CHT) has long fought for: To give all seniors more private choices of higher quality health care. It currently provides almost 11 million Americans coverage through private insurance plans. Recent data shows that these seniors have better health outcomes than those in traditional Medicare.

Current legislation in Washington will gut the program. H.R. 3200 in the House will cut Medicare Advantage by $172 billion. The bill sponsored by Sen. Max Baucus in the Senate will cut the popular program by $123 billion.

If you're just hearing about this now, here's the reason: When Humana (with whom we've worked with in the past at CHT) tried to inform its Medicare Advantage members that Democratic health care reform could lower their benefits, the government ordered them to cease and desist and opened an investigation of the company.

Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) subsequently introduced legislation in the Senate Finance Committee to protect the 1st Amendment rights of private insurance companies to criticize health care reform proposals.

Democrats on the committee unanimously defeated the bill.

Hypocrisy: The AARP Sells Out Seniors

OUTRAGE!!

Billion-dollar drug company hides astounding discovery of a natural cancer killer. 10,000 times stronger than chemo—but without the side effects!

One pharmaceutical company actually made the ‘discovery of the century’ – a miracle breakthrough that could save you or someone you love from the ravages of cancer. But…

They hid the secret for SEVEN FULL YEARS…with no plans to tell anyone about it ever!

Click here to read the full story of this astounding breakthrough—and the dozens of other underground cures not yet available to mainstream medicine…

But while Humana was censored by the government from talking to its Medicare Advantage enrollees about proposed Democratic cuts, another Medicare Advantage provider - the AARP - has been left free to lobby its members.

Of course the Washington leadership of the AARP is working closely with Democrats on health care reform. Incredibly, the self-appointed voice of America's seniors supports "reforms" that will cut the benefits - if not the entire Medicare Advantage coverage - of millions of seniors.

How can this be? It's simple. The AARP is a liberal interest group like any other, and it cut a deal with the party in charge in Washington. In exchange for selling out the seniors it claims to represent, the AARP will get potentially millions in lucrative insurance contracts, and quite possibly something more.

Tell Your Friends We're Not Going to Take It Anymore

No plan that has to be advanced through dishonesty, intimidation and hypocrisy has the support of the American people.

But all that is required for these tactics to prevail in Washington is for good people to sit back and do nothing.

As debate in Congress continues, here's what you can do: Send this newsletter to a friend, a co-worker, or a relative who isn't yet aware of what Washington is doing.

Send this newsletter to your senators and representatives. Let them know that, despite the dishonesty, the intimidation and the hypocrisy, we know what they're doing.

And we're not going to take it anymore.

Bill Cosby What he thinks about the Bailout

This is actually word for word what he said to a gathering of students who asked about the bailout in America

Great response... 'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English.' I can't even talk the way these people talk: Why you ain't,? Where you is,? What he drive,? Where he stay,? Where he work,? Who you be....? And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk. Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what?? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics. I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2 Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father? People putting their clothes on backward:? Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something??? Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body? What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa . I say this all of the time. It would be like white people saying they are European-American. That is totally stupid. I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany, Scotland, England, Ireland, or the Netherlands?. The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to Africa . So stop, already! ! ! With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap ..... and all of them are in jail. Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer.' Dr. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed.D. WELL SAID, BILL It's NOT about color... It's about behavior!!!

Electric Energy                                         347.98
This is the charge for the electricity you use. Residential  electric rates are tiered so your energy usage is reflected  within the established tiers

DWR Bond Charge                                 16.00
The charge covers the repayment of bonds issued by the Department of Water Resources (DWR) to cover DWR’s cost in purchasing energy for California.

Transmission                                            38.62
This is the cost for delivering highvoltage electricity from power plants to local distribution wires. It includes the cost of high-voltage power lines and towers, as well as monitoring and control equipment.

Distribution                                              252.74
This is the charge for delivering electricity to your residence or place of business. This cost includes wires and poles, repair crews and emergency services. In all cases, SDG&E is responsible for the distribution of your electricity.

Public Purpose Programs                         316.18
This charge recovers the costs of various state-mandated programs (such as low-income and energy efficiency) and includes the costs of providing discounted rates for residential usage up to 130% of the baseline allowance. The costs associated with providing discounted rates for usage up to 130% of baseline are recovered through higher rates paid by residential customers who use in excess of 130% of their baseline allowance.

Nuclear Decommissioning                        1.50
This charge covers the costs of closing down nuclear power plants.

Competition Transition Charge                 6.40
Through this charge, SDG&E recovers past investment in generating facilities and long-term power contracts with non-utility generators. From May 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008, a credit will appear on your bill as a result of an over-collection from the Trust Transfer Amount charge that was removed from residential bills in October 2007.

Reliability Services                                   1.68
These are costs passed on to SDG&E by the Independent System Operator (ISO) to ensure adequate power to maintain electric system reliability. This means having enough power to meet electricity demand at all times. Through the end of 2008, a credit will appear in this line item due to the decreased costs associated with the ISO.

E Mail from Newt Gingrich about Obama's Speech Sept 9 2009

September 9, 2009

Vol. 4, No. 36

Grading the Big Speech:

A 10-Point Citizens' Checklist on Health Reform

by Newt Gingrich

President Obama has had a month to listen to the American people.

For a month, angry Americans have gone to town hall meetings in large numbers to oppose more spending, more government, and more Washington centered bureaucracy.

For a month, the polls have gotten worse and worse for big spending, big deficit, high taxes, and big government.

But on Labor Day, President Obama gave us a sign he hasn't been listening. He gave a campaign-style speech in which he accused his critics of spreading "lies" and failing to offer their own solutions for health care reform.

Tonight President Obama has another opportunity to show us if he's willing to listen to us, or to his party's leftwing.

Below is a ten-point checklist you can use to judge for yourself.

Facing a Far Left Revolt, the President Has a Choice to Make

In his speech to Congress this evening, President Obama has a choice to make.

SIGN THE PETITION TO STOP OBAMACARE!

The Radical Left Will Not Stop Until They Succeed in Socializing Medicine.

SIGN NOW Before it is TOO LATE!

He has to choose between listening to what the American people are telling him, and what the Left is telling him.

A recent Gallup poll revealed that only 13% of the American people want permanently expanded government.

In sharp contrast, the liberal base of the President's party views government run health care as nonnegotiable.

The Left is already threatening primary opposition to President Obama if he doesn't stick with them and seek to impose radical change on the American people.

As MSNBC's Keith Olbermann said last week "If it's necessary to find somebody else to run against him, I think liberals would do it, no matter how destructive that may seem".

Despite the Hard Line of the Left,

Health Care Reform Is Still Possible

Despite the intransigence on the Left, bipartisan health reform supported by a huge majority of Americans is still possible.

The question is whether the President can reach out to the majority of us.

So to understand the President's speech tonight – his most important speech since his Inaugural address – do these three things:

Forget the details

Forget the rhetoric.

And ask yourself this:

Is this a speech designed to bring together Americans to pass bipartisan health reform?

Or is this a speech designed to appease the Left?

Here's a ten-point checklist to help you decide for yourself. Print it out and use it to judge the President's speech tonight.

In his proposals for reform, does the President include litigation reform, which 84% of Americans believe will help reduce costs and which is the number one goal of doctors in any health reform?

Does he include a section onsaving money by stopping payments to crooks who are bilking the taxpayers for $70-120 billion each year in Medicare and Medicaid fraud? For 88 percent of Americans, this is the first place they would look to find savings in our health care system. Is President Obama willing to look there?

Does his speech reject higher taxes, which the vast majority of Americans believe will make the current economy even worse and increase unemployment even more?

Does it reject all government rationing of health services which the American people have vocally opposed at town hall meetings across the country?

Does it reject any government run, bureaucratic health plan?

Is President Obama open to four or five bipartisan bills which could pass with big bipartisan majorities? Or does he insist on a single omnibus bill of 1000-plus pages like the one that failed when Mrs. Clinton tried to pass it in 1993-1994?

Is he for sustaining the Senate rule of 60 votes to ensure a bill that has wide, bipartisan support? Or is he prepared to destroy long-standing Senate tradition and ram through a radical bill with 51 votes?

Does President Obama give any indication he is forincreasing the power, information and choice of the individual and their doctor or is he giving more power to the government?

Does he focus on health, wellness, prevention, early detection and health management to avoid or control the severity of chronic diseases? Or does he spend his time talking only about acute care?

Does his plan invest in science and technology in order to increase innovation and accelerate the discovery and adoption of new discoveries and breakthroughs in diseases such as Alzheimer's, cancer and diabetes?

The Coming Revolution

I have been watching and listening to current events as they develop and I believe that without a doubt the general American population is fed up with the current Gov't. They believe they are being lied to, that there money is being appropriated though taxation for purposes that are basically unconstitutional. That the current set of Congress and others in Washington put their own interest above those of their constituents. They use Pork Barrel amendments to spend money, unwisely and sometime to their own benefit. They arrogantly believe they know better than the people what is good for them. The people are tired of being lied to and cheated out of their hard earned savings. Tonight I proudly saw people old and young talking about their willingness and desire to put their country back on track. Watch out Washington. The people are pissed off and they are about to take this country back by any means available to them. If they cannot talk you into restoring the country, back to the way it should be. Repealing the unnecessary and sometime stupid laws that have been passed. Reforming the Tax system. So they are able to keep more of their money. Fixing the Medical system, NOT REPLACINGS IT, but fixing what is wrong with the current one. Lowering education costs so that everyone can again afford go to college without having been born with a silver spoon in their mouths or by putting themselves so far in debt that it may take forever to pay off their loans. Once again encourage small businesses and capitalism in general. If you don't listen then you can look forward to being voted out of office when your term is up and they will find someone willing to serve the will of the people. You really don’t want to find out what the American people will do when you finally piss them off so much that they just can’t take it anymore. In our history we have already had one revolution specifically about excessive taxation. We certainly don’t want to see another

Is the National Endowwment of the Art organizing to support Obama

I have been hearing for the last few days about how the NEA has been trying to recruit the arts community to support Obama and encouraging those it speaks to to recruit others. Now they sya that they did not send out the invitation for the Telecom conference call, that it was the "The Corporation for National and Community Service" Now I would like to know who and or what is the "The Corporation for National and Community Service" as I don't think I have ever heard of it before. Here are some links that will get more of this story for you. You decide for yourselve wheter it is right for the NEA to be involved in politics.
